About Us
HowDoesSheDoIt.com launched online in October of 2010. The company is located in Spokane, Washington and is owned and managed by my wife Karen, and myself. The development and management of this site has absorbed much of our time beginning about a year before the actual launch date and things only continue to get busier. The rest of our time is dominated by our two wonderful sons.
So, why a website like this? The idea struck me one evening when Karen had given me a list and asked me to run to the store to buy groceries for the next four or five days. Although my wife is fairly organized, I quickly found myself wandering back and forth across the store in search of an item I wasn't familiar with, or to pick up some item that I had missed in a section I had already been through. The store was busy which was adding to my building frustration. I began to think about what the perfect shopping list would look like and all the ways my wife needed to improve HER system to make MY life easier. (Those weren't my exact words when I returned home and talked to her about my ideas.)
As the idea evolved and we quickly realized that it would be nice if all of those groceries would get organized and added to the shopping list automatically, the need for a functional and intuitive menu planner became obvious. In order to have a menu planner you of course need a place to find recipes AND, even more importantly create and save your own. We wanted our members to be able to quickly set this up in a way that makes the most sense for them. We also wanted our members to be able to share recipes with whoever they chose - some to the whole world, others to just a few friends, and maybe some to remain as family secrets. I think our development team did a wonderful job bringing our vision to life.
As the planning phase of the website hit full swing we started to think about a domain name. From the onset of the project I envisioned our members being the type of people that consider themselves great planners, always prepared, and on the ball. OR, at least the type of people that wish they were in that category - which includes most of us. People like this often have their friends asking (or thinking), "How does she (or he for that matter) do it?!". The name was born.
Clearly, coming up with meals, and planning and shopping for them is just one aspect of normal life. However, at varying degrees, for many people it is a big, time consuming and seemingly never ending chore. Even for the millions of people that love to be in the kitchen, the process of planning can be frustrating. Searching through old recipe cards, finding just the right one, and then figuring out what you will need to prepare that meal can take longer than the actual fun part in the kitchen. Not anymore. There IS a better way, and our new members are realizing just how fun and easy all of this can be.
Now when my wife asks me what I feel like for dinner next week, we grab the laptop, choose our meals, and in just a couple minutes we have it all planned out. And, now I don't even mind if she asks me to go to the grocery store to pick up all the stuff. Things have just gotten a lot easier for us. It's completely free, it can be a lot of fun, and I promise that you will save time and be more organized. I hope you will check it out!
Best Regards,
